I'm famous!

Driver: Damien Ballard

# 61

Class: C - Street Prepared

This weekend I attended my first ever autocross event at Ducks Stadium (Price Cutter Park).  It was easily the most fun I have had driving ever!  Registration started at 9:30 am sharp, I got tech'd and registered as soon as possible. After registration I pulled my car into the grid spot and decided to walk the course.  Walkin the course I noticed that there was an option to either:

A) Long straight up hill, slalom down hill

B) Slalom up hill, medium straight down hill

Listening to some of the other regulars there I deduced that option A would be the fastest route.  After walking the course a couple times it was time for work assignments.  The whole group was split into stock and non-stock categories for the two heats.  While the stock cars were running I was assigned to work a corner picking up cones, calling in DNFs over the radio etc.  While working my corner (heheh) I got to talk to some of the experienced drivers while watching others try their luck at the course.  After their runs we switched spots and the stock car drivers worked the corners.  We got in a total of 5 runs after everything was finished.  On my second run ever this guy plops in my car and says "hey can I go for a ride I'm lookin at buying a crx."  So I took him for the ride of his life scaring the crap out of him. Note: my "oh sh|t" bar is removed. Each run I improved my time.  I ended up placing 3rd in my class, two seconds behind a guy in an rx7 and 15 years experience.  I did awesome for it being my first time and I'm happy with the results.

Here are some pics of the event:

MMM hello where'd my hair go?!!?

I think some indians scalped me while I was on the slopes.

These indian ladies were looking for some food. I offered them my twig and berries. They didn't want my twig and berries. Well I didn't want their sagging cajones either!!!
